Racism Today

As we all know, racism began back in history when slavery was alive in the United States. It has been widespread since the Colonial era.

Martin Luther King, Jr

(1929-1968), was the leader and pastor of the civil rights movement.

In 1964, the Civil Rights Act took over where "segregation on the grounds of race, religion or national origin was banned at all places of public accommodation, including courthouses, parks, restaurants, theaters, sports arenas and hotels. No longer could blacks and other minorities be denied service simply based on the color of their skin." Where racial discrimination was finally illegal in the United States.

While laws are progressing in the United States regarding equality, racism still lingers around.

Racism affects minorities in all aspects of their lives.
